Codesign is a company specializing in product design, development, and documentation. As our name suggests, we believe in a cooperative approach to product development and promoting interaction between our people and your staff.

We are organized as a collective, able to draw on a range of skills and experience tailored to fit our client’s needs. Our senior engineering, documentation and scientist personnel have each been in the business for 25 – 45 years.

We have extensive experience in taking small start-up companies with a product idea to manufacturing companies with an income stream. Also, we have many years experience in making the transition from a prototype to a professionally manufactured product.
 
 

What services do we offer?

While the bulk of our business is in product design and development, our capabilities extend to publication design and production; electrical engineering; software design and engineering; circuit board design, layout, documentation and manufacturing; optical design; manufacturing engineering and technical writing.

We offer manufacturing, both assembly and fabrication. From laser micromachining to large scale welded structures to precision optical assembly.

We love brainstorming solutions to concept, engineering or manufacturing problems.

Engineering Specialties: All types of lasers and laser measurement systems; optics; microscopic particle detection instruments; solar energy devices; ultrasonic inspection systems; high speed motion control; high volume assembly machinery, manufacturing engineering; programming in C/C++, Visual Basic 6.0, Assembly Language, HTML, FrontPage, FORTRAN.

Other areas of expertise include:

Project and Group Management: Workload estimation, fixed price bidding, interviewing, hiring, termination, customer liaison, administration, scheduling, and cost estimating.

Drawing Quality Assurance (Checking): Form, fit, and function check to ANSI Y14.5M-1982, MIL-STD-100, MIL-STD-275E, MIL-STD-1547, NASA X-673-641E, and other specifications as defined by contract.

Design and Documentation: Extensive knowledge of materials, finishes and hardware used in the electro-mechanical design area. Knowledgeable in commercial (ANSI), NASA, and military design and documentation standards.

We design primarily in Autocad, although we are literate in other CADD (and, of course, word processing, spreadsheet and mathematical) programs as well.
 
 

Who are our clients?

We serve the small to medium size company that may not have an established engineering department, or does not have adequate capacity to take on a new project.

Our clients cover a wide range from a 400 million dollar company in the underwater exploration and recovery business to a $750,000 company that makes custom ultrasonic inspection equipment. We also have a range of clients in between in the instrumentation and printed circuit manufacturing fields.
 
 

What do our services cost?

We offer fixed price contracts or hourly or daily rates, at your facility or ours. Since every contract is different, please contact us for specifics.

No job is too small. Unlike job shops or most other consulting firms, we have no problem with those little 1 day or 1 week projects or tasks.
 
 

Where are we?

Our design office is in historic Annapolis, Maryland, with prototyping, assembly and test facilities in Silver Spring and Frederick, Maryland.
